POA work session Jan. 16 to cover important election topics
With Regis Falinski submitting his candidate documents there are now five candidates for three POA director seats. Falinski joins Candace Robertson, Fran Farias, Bill Nelson and Bob Crouch as candidates for the POA board. Candidates have until Friday, Jan. 17 to submit their POA document packages.
The candidates are vying for three board seats: two will be vacated by Director Jim Farinholt, who will have served two terms on the board, and Director Dudley DeVore, who completed his three-year term. The third seat was vacated earlier in 2019 when Director Grant Grimes resigned. Ballots will be mailed to property owners on February 10 and completed ballots must be received by the POA’s accounting firm Mauldin and Jenkins by February 26. The results will be announced at a community event at The Clubhouse on Lake Sconti on February 29. Property owners must be current on their POA accounts as of January 31 to be eligible to vote.
Key items on POA Work Agenda
POA directors are going to address key issues that invalidated the 2019 POA director election in December and raised concerns about being eligible to vote in POA elections. The POA work session is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 16 beginning at 5 p.m. in the Mountains Grille Room.
The issues are listed under the Presentations heading for the Jan. 16 meeting agenda:
Ballots to Amend Governing Documents for Election Matters
- Allowing spouses of defined “owners” of property to run for the Board
- Changing to 60 days account delinquency to affect standing to vote.
