Inside The Gates Radio is back Jan. 19 with regular line-up
Greetings from Inside The Gates Radio, the community radio station of Big Canoe. After missing a week of live broadcasts from January 5 due to our internet access being down, we had two great live shows this past Sunday, January 12. This week on Sunday, January 19 will again feature our regular line-up.
Shiraz Alikhan's San Francisco Nights show starts at 4:30 p.m. Shiraz highlighted how many of the great groups of the Bay Area got their names as he played their great music. Want to go back to the fond 60s and 70s memories that many of us experienced? Don't miss his show!
Craig Looney's Looney's Tune show starts at 6:30 p.m. immediately following San Francisco Nights. Last week's opening monologue hinted at just how the great music of the Inside The Gates Radio library actually came together. And we had a great Battle of the Bands with Tom Petty squaring off against Bob Seger. (Seger came away the big winner in kind of a runaway). Join the show for "the great music of our lifetimes".
You'll not only get excellent music but quite a few of the fun facts and stories surrounding the various artists and their creations. Here are a few of those from last Sunday's show. (You already probably know the answers if you caught Looney's Tunes last Sunday.)
*One music critic described this track as the “perfect rock song...an anthem” featuring one of the best opening keyboard riffs in rock. 1981 was the year and this song explores a directional area of Detroit, Michigan, which in this case defaults to the Canadian city of Windsor.
*This well-knows song uses a basketball game as a metaphor for a romance. Because of said basketball references, it was used in NBA promos in the mid-1980s. This is one of the group's favorite songs. Name the tune and the band
*This artist released a duets album in 2006 at the ripe young age of 80. Good thing there are no “term limits” when it comes to this artist, who has a tour scheduled for this year, including Atlanta next month. Who is the artist?
