Memorial Day kicks off Summer 2019 at Big Canoe
“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.”—F. Scott Fitzgerald,
The 2019 Memorial Day Weekend in Big Canoe exceeded expectations. With fun activities at the pools, lake, marina, trails and fields—everywhere families and friends gather. The Terraces began their concert series and the new food trailer was christened at the music site to provide typical summertime picnic foods and drink.
But Memorial Day has a serious side too as we commemorated those who gave their lives for all for us. On Monday, at the Big Canoe Chapel, the North Georgia Veterans presented a moving tribute to all our fallen soldiers and the Daughters of the American Revolution supplied a patriotic wreath for the occasion. Lest we never forget.
Smoke Signals photographer Jim Francis spent most of his weekend scouting out scenes of people just having fun as well as serious moments at the Memorial Service at the chapel. Scroll down for a selection his photographs from Memorial Day Weekend in Big Canoe.
