State-of-the-art food trailer has “awesome” launch at Terraces concert
Big Canoe’s sleek state of the art food trailer’s launch at a Terraces concert Memorial Day weekend was “awesome” said Clubhouse Director Jasmin Ilazovic.
“Everybody loved it,” said Ilazovic after sales of $2,000 in two hours. A shrimp and lobster roll or a BBQ plate with a $3.50 beer or $6 glass of wine with funnel cake fries and beignets for desserts is better and easier than making a picnic and hauling it and a chair to a concert. In addition to the Terraces season of music, the trailer will appear at events throughout the year.
During warm months, the trailer will be at the Canoe Lodge on weekends featuring the food trailer menu and live music under a large tent. Plans to initiate its use at the lodge this Friday and Saturday, June 7 and 8, may have to be scrapped, Ilazovic said Tuesday with an eye to stormy weather possible. “I don’t want anyone hurt,” he added.
With the annual Member Guest Golf Tournament planned for this Saturday, the clubhouse will close at 2 p.m. in preparation for this event. Having the food trailer and music at the Canoe Lodge would give property owners and guest a place for dinner Saturday night but now all is up to the weather.
The trailer was made in Cleveland, Ga. to specifications of Ilazovic and others. A food truck would have cost hundreds more but as General Manager Jill Philmon said after pricing out a truck versus a trailer, Big Canoe had a truck to tow it, so a trailer was all that was needed. She and Ilazovic have both commented on the kitchen of the trailer being better than the clubhouse kitchen. Another use for the trailer kitchen is for large events at the clubhouse, the trailer can be parked below and act as a supplement to the somewhat restricted capacity of the clubhouse kitchen. For now, it is new, and the creative uses are just beginning to be explored.
