Fire trucks lead 2018 Santa Parade at Big Canoe

Big Canoe Public Safety and the POA Programs & Events Committee hosted the annual Holiday Celebration featuring the fire department’s Santa Parade on Saturday, Nov. 24 at Playfield Park.

Several decorated fire trucks replaced Santa’s trusted reindeers for a parade across the dam as they guided Santa onto the Playfield where he lit the large, adorned Christmas tree—opening the holiday season.

Santa took careful notes as he listened to the children’s secret hopes and wishes for the merry season.

The Canoe Cubs organized games, crafts and fun for children and the Bear Society provided their popular lawn games. Blossman Propane and Appliances sponsored the ever-popular S’mores tent and provided plenty of heaters for our outdoor event.

The annual Holiday Celebration was also a chance to give back to the local community. Big Canoe Public Safety had designated boxes accepting Toys for Tots donations. Toys for Tots collections will continue through December 21 and can be dropped off at the Fire House and at both the North and Main gates.
