Notes from the General Manager

By Jill Philmon

Great teamwork has been exhibited during the last few months between committee members, property owner volunteers and our administrative staff. From our clubhouse, public works, public safety and amenities staff to our finance committee working through the budgets and volunteers working tirelessly on property owner events, Big Canoe is very blessed with so many talented and giving professionals and volunteers.

A big thank you to the Big Canoe Chapel for hosting the annual POA Employee Appreciation Luncheon on Thursday, October 25 at the Broyles Center. Members of the Big Canoe Chapel served a traditional BBQ style menu along with delicious desserts provided by the residents. It was a great event and very much appreciated by the employees!

Please note that the POA Annual Meeting will be held on December 1 at the Big Canoe Chapel at 10 a.m. The agenda will include a brief review of the status of business and announcement of the newly elected directors. The package was mailed on November 7 to property owners. Included is a ballot to vote for new directors. Please do exercise your right to vote!

We offer a note of thanks to Phil Anderson and Steve Wilson as their three-year term of service on the POA board is coming to a conclusion. Their leadership and many hours donated is appreciated by the POA staff and I’m sure by the property owners of the POA.

It is with a sad heart that Kim Cooper has tendered her resignation, effective December 15 as the Big Canoe POA’s Programs & Events manager. Kim will be performing her normal duties for Big Canoe until that time. Kim has been employed by Big Canoe for 10 years. During her tenure, Kim has added numerous activities to programs & events and she will be sorely missed. Please join us in thanking Kim for a job well done and wishing her well in the future.

In your November statement is a letter requesting a donation to the employee holiday bonus fund. This is for all employees in all departments, including the ones you typically do not get to see and thank like the dishwashers, maintenance and landscape crews, public safety crew and I could go on. Our staff work on holidays, in the rain, the snow and when we as homeowners want to play they are here to make sure that happens. I am so appreciative of Team Big Canoe and I hope you are too!

From our staff to yours we hope you have a wonderful holiday season.
