Veterans Day celebration at Big Canoe Chapel Nov. 12
The North Georgia Veterans are sponsoring a Veterans Day Celebration at the Big Canoe Chapel beginning 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12.
Everyone is invited to celebrate this important day that commemorates U.S. veterans and military.
The Big Canoe Cub Scout Pack will assist in the program that will include a service medley sung by the North Georgia Veterans Chorus and a speech by Major General Joe Jarrard, 42nd Adjutant General of the Georgia Department of Defense.
General Jarrard Graduated from North Georgia College and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army in 1988. He has served on active duty over 20 years. He was appointed by the governor of Georgia to the position of Adjutant General and commanding officer of the Georgia Army National Guard in 2014.
He has served in command positions domestically and internationally including support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and as a Defense Contractor in Afghanistan.
His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star w/OLC, Meritorious Service Medal w/OLC, Senior Parachutist Badge and Ranger Tab.
