Save September 8 for firefighters’ fundraiser
With Jasmin Ilazovic back at the clubhouse and the Big Canoe Fire Dept. together planning an annual Firemen’s Fundraiser, they may just have things falling from the sky on Saturday, Sept. 8 at The Clubhouse at Lake Sconti.
Those that remember the April 2015 annual event, it was over the top with ice sculptures, a whole roasted pig on the veranda, an auction and Vegas gambling.
Here’s what you need to know for this year in addition to the popular Chicken Stand Band and four bars:
Event Date: Saturday, Sept. 8 beginning at 6 p.m. until 11 p.m.
Ticket Prices: $50 pp with $25 of this going to the Big Canoe Volunteer Fire Dept. (BCVFD)
Purchase tickets at the Fitness Center, Racket Club, Fire Station in the Village and at the clubhouse.
Sponsorships are available in five levels:
• Fire Station - $1,000
• Fire Truck - $500
• Fire Ladder - $250
• Fire Hydrant - $100
• Fire Boot - $50
All contributions for the Firemen’s Fund are tax-deductible (501 (c) (3) with checks made payable to “BCVFD” and placed in the postal facility “Big Canoe Volunteer Fire Dept.” box or mailed to 11564 Big Canoe, Jasper, GA 30143
This year proceeds from the fundraiser will go to buy furniture, fixtures and equipment for an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) for coordination of blizzards, thunderstorms, tornadoes, hailstorms, heat waves, droughts, wildfire, missing persons and any other emergency event. A room above the new Station 3 was built for an EOC and now it has to be made operational.
When the parking lot at the clubhouse fills, and it will early, shuttles will be running from the lower parking lot below The Big Canoe Chapel.
