St. Paddy’s Ladies celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with a concert at Eagles Rest Park atop Mt. Oglethorpe. The Ladies–Bunny Loftman, Terri Sawyer, and Shelley Gartin-Johnson–sang a medley of Irish and folk favorites on the chilly, windy day. They also regaled attendees with tales about St. Patrick and Irish traditions, including “wetting the shamrock” for good luck.
“Grandma Gatewood Hikes the Appalachian Trail” will be performed at Eagles Rest Park on Mt. Oglethorpe on Saturday, March 24 at noon. The Mountain Conservation Trust of Georgia will host actress Anne Van Curen who will reprise her role.
The park is located on Mt. Oglethorpe at the end of Monument Road. The Big Canoe gate on Sanderlin will be open from 10 a.m. to approximately 3 p.m. As usual, please bring canned goods to donate to CARES, the Pickens County foodbank.
