Wildflower Bunch Kicks Off Silver Anniversary Year

Members pose during lunch for a photo

The Wildflower Bunch Garden Club recently launched its silver anniversary season. Members received a beautiful memorial handbook which included a history of the organization, plans for the upcoming anniversary celebration, and plans for the programs and excursions. The cover was a reproduction of the original watercolor by Sara Lee, the first Wildflower Bunch president, which served as the notification for the initial meeting on June 10, 1993.

The featured speaker for the meeting was Cynthia Hendry who has been the kickoff speaker for more than a decade. Her topic was “Big Canoe’s gardening year & tantalizing ideas for garden additions.” Following the meeting, attendees dined on loaded potato soup, spinach, mushroom, and Swiss quiche, house salad, and lemon tarts. On April 4, Treena Parrish, manager of the AECD, will give an overview of the guidelines for landscaping in Big Canoe.

The year promises to be a memorable one. Big Canoe property owners are encouraged to join to attend the events. Visit www.wildflowerbunch.com for program and membership info.
