Dawsonville restaurant makes national news. On Dec. 30, CNN featured Dawsonville’s iconic Pool Room Restaurant with its collection of history and memorabilia of Bill Elliott's NASCAR career and early moonshine runners. 2018 Big Canoe Directories go on sale Monday, Jan. 15. Directories will be available during regular business hours at Canoe Lodge, Big Canoe Fitness Center and the Golf Pro Shop. They will also be available at the Postal Facility on the following days: Monday, Jan. 15, 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. Cost of directories is $20 plus tax. Cash, credit card and POA account charges will be accepted. Directories can also be mailed to out-of-town property owners. Christmas trees find new and homes. In Big Canoe, drop off drooping and exhausted Christmas trees at the North Marina in the area designated by the cones. They’ll be recycled to create underwater reefs in Lake Petit. For more info, contact the Big Canoe Marina at 706-268-3303.
