Ridgerunners – Tuesday, Jan. 16, 10 a.m. Mountains Grill at the Clubhouse on Lake Sconti. Dr. Julie Wickman will speak on “The Fractured Truth about Osteoporosis.” Optional lunch includes butternut squash soup with a vegetable pot pie and small house salad with dessert ($18 inclusive). North Georgia Vets – Jan. 17, 11:30 a.m. Mountains Grill at the Clubhouse. Program speaker. Paul S. Gardiner, president of the newly formed, veterans non-profit 501(c)(3) public charity, Veterans Alliance for Law and Order (VALOR). Black Bear Society Cornhole Toss Championship – Saturday, Jan. 20, 7 p.m. at the Clubhouse and Veranda. Cornhole boards by the Big Canoe Artists Club.
“Soup Tasting” - Tuesday, Jan. 30, 3 - 5 p.m. at the Swim Club. Wellness Collaborative’s Healthy Living Committee will host its first “soup tasting.” Sign up on the form in the Wellness Collaborative box at the Postal Facility. Space is limited. Squires & Stags – will meet on Feb. 2 at 8 a.m. in the Mountains Grille at the clubhouse. Chairman Rob Jones of the Pickens County Commission will report on development and government activities in Pickens County. Buffet breakfast ($13) will be served. Note: New members and guests are welcome to attend meetings. While Squires & Stags was formed as a men’s club, women are invited to attend the meetings and are always welcomed.
Travel Club – will meet Wednesday, Jan.24 at 6 p.m. in Mountains Grille at the clubhouse. Carl Crews of Celebrity Cruises will introduce a 2019 Travel Club group trip to the Greek Islands on Celebrity’s fabulous new state-of-the-art ship “Edge.” Mike Ziegenbalg of Cruise-One Dream Vacations announced Celebrity Cruises will co-sponsor with Dream Vacations for 2018. Celebrity will hold a drawing for a free seven-day cruise for two at the last meeting of the year. Travel Club members can submit an entry for the drawing each time they attend a meeting. Members must be present at the October special event to win. Membership is free.
