North Georgia Chamber Symphony to present three concerts

The North Georgia Chamber Symphony has a message for you: Come have some fun with us as we kick off the 2019 Holiday Season.

The chamber symphony, directed by Laurin Smith, will present three Concerts, one on December 6 and two on December 7 at these locations:

  • Blairsville, Friday, December 6, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Historic Courthouse on the Square, 1 Town Square, Blairsville, GA 30514
  • Gainesville, Saturday, December 7, beginning at 2 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1397 Thompson Bridge Rd., Gainesville, GA 30501
  • Dahlonega, Saturday, December 7, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Dahlonega United Methodist Church, 107 South Park Street, on the corner of Maple, Dahlonega, GA 30533.

The program will open with Mozart’s “Divertimento in D Major.” A string quartet from the orchestra will perform a haunting version of “Autumn Leaves” arranged by Toru Takemitsu. Vonda Darr, principal harpist of the Augusta Symphony, will play several songs with us including Ralph Vaughan Williams’s beautiful “Fantasia on Greensleeves” and John Rutter’s “Suite Lyrique.

Sing-along with the members of the Chattahoochee Elementary Champion Chorus, directed by Rebecca Gerstenlauer, as they sing a Puerto Rican carol, a Chanukkah selection, and the Christmas carols from Leroy Anderson’s “A Christmas Festival.” Please add the concert to your calendar. We look forward to seeing you.
