Dump truck overturns onto passenger vehicle, two hospitalized
A major intersection was shut down for more than an hour after a serious crash involving a dump truck and passenger vehicle.
Dawson County Emergency Services responded to an accident with entrapment at 2:36 p.m. Feb. 18 at the intersection of Ga. 400 and Hwy. 53 where two individuals became entrapped after a dump truck overturned on top of the vehicle in which they were riding.
Additional units—including Forsyth Heavy Rescue—responded to assist in the extrication and treatment of trapped occupants, according to Dawson County Public Relations Specialist Laura Fulcher.
One person was rushed to Northeast Georgia Medical Center by ambulance while crews worked to free the second person, who was later taken to the same hospital, also by ambulance. Both were reported to be in stable condition.
No word on the condition of the truck driver at press time.
The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the crash.
