Blood moon shines over north Georgia
On January 20-21 we got to see a total eclipse of the moon, a blood moon, a wolf moon and a supermoon all at once. The first full moon of the year (Wolf Moon) was covered by earth’s shadow (Lunar eclipse) but some light from the sun passed through the Earth’s atmosphere and bent toward the moon during the totality portion of the eclipse, turning the moon red or copper colored (Blood moon) as the moon was the closest it gets to earth creating a supermoon. The next total lunar eclipse will take place May 26, 2021.Photo by Steve Papke.
