Dawson, Pickens, State Police respond to entrapment in Pickens County
Dawson County Emergency Services (DCES) responded to call on Rimrock Road in Pickens County Monday, Aug. 20. Upon arriving on the scene, an overturned cement truck was observed in a residential driveway.
“The area is served by an automatic mutual aid agreement with both counties [Dawson and Pickens] assisting each other,” Dawson County EMA Director/Fire Chief Danny Thompson stated in a written statement. Dawson County stations 1, 6 and 8 responded.
Crews were able to rescue the driver of a Wayne Davis Concrete truck after a 30-minute extrication. “The driver said his brakes went out,” Pickens County Fire Chief Sloan Elrod said. The homeowner said that there had been a similar incident a few years ago, according to Elrod. “This is the first I can recall,” he said.
Pickens County EMS took the driver to Kennestone Hospital for further evaluation of his injuries. The Georgia State Patrol is handling the investigation.
