Senate Special Tax Exemption Study Committee to meet Aug. 22 at University of North Georgia
The second meeting of the Senate Special Tax Exemption Study Committee will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, in Dahlonega at the University of North Georgia.
Senate Resolution 222, sponsored by Sen. Albers (R – Roswell), creates the Senate Special Tax Exemption Study Committee. Sen. Albers serves as chair of the six-member study committee which is . working with the Department of Revenue, Senate Research, Pew Charitable Trust and others to examine the costs and benefits of all state tax exemptions. Additionally, the goal of the study committee is to ensure that each exemption has the potential for a return on investment (ROI). The study committee is responsible for submitting a report of findings and recommendations, including proposed legislation, by Dec. 1, 2017.
