National Farmers Market Week

Celebrate National Regional Farmers Markets Friday, Aug. 11

Amicalola Regional Farmers Market joins markets across the country in celebrating National Farmers Market Week.

The 18th annual National Farmers Market Week, a yearly celebration sponsored by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) that highlights the important role farmers markets play in the nation’s food system, kicked off August 6 and continues through August 12

Currently held at the parking lot of the Dawsonville Tractor Supply Company on Highway 53 just East of Georgia 400, the market will be open from 3:30 until 7 p.m. every Friday throughout the growing season.

In addition to fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs, and seafood, there will be local honey, handmade crafts and quilts, captivating photographs of local scenery in different seasons, mushroom logs, homemade baked goods and many other unique items and gifts. It’s never too early to start Christmas shopping!

In celebration of National Farmer’s Market Week, there will be free ice cream for all who attend the market on Friday, August 11. Come celebrate with us by meeting your local artists and farmers and buying the freshest produce in town. For more information please visit, facebook.com/amicalolafarmersmarket or contact the Dawson County Chamber of Commerce at 705-265-6278 or the UGA Extension office at 706-265-2442.
