Important POA dates to remember: Feb. 23, Mar. 3 and Mar. 9

The regular Property Owners Association (POA) meeting has a new time and date. In response to many requests from property owners who can’t make Wednesday morning meetings, the POA is now scheduling regular meetings at 5 p.m. on Thursdays. The February meeting will be this Thursday, Feb. 23 at 5 p.m. in the Mountains Grille Room in The Clubhouse at Lake Sconti.
The POA work session is generally one week before the regular meeting. Featured on the agenda will be reports from key POA committees: the Golf Membership Task Force, Troon Analysis and Negotiations Task Force, Land Use Task Force Board Policy and Procedure Recommendations and Pump and Underground Storage Tank and Additional Parking.
Mar. 3 is the deadline for your vote—yea or nay--on the new fire station to be received at the firm of Mauldin and Jenkins. To ensure your vote is counted, mail it today and give yourself plenty of time for your ballot to be mailed and received. The vote is necessary because the estimated cost--$1,500,834—exceeds $1 million and requires capital reserve funds. To pass, the project must be approved by more than 50 percent of the votes.
After a year of hard work, the Land Use Task Force had set Mar. 9 as the first of two hearings on the committee’s recommendations for parcels of land purchased from the Big Canoe Company last year. Parcels covered by the Land Use Task Force include: Land surrounding the Village Core; High Gap; Sconti Point; Wilderness Parkway; by the Roundabout; by the North Gate, and several small parcels. Two community hearings are being scheduled, the first will begin at 4 p.m., Thursday, Mar. 9, with wine and cheese provided by the POA. The second hearing will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Mar. 25 as part of a Community Coffee. Both meetings are scheduled at the Mountains Grille Room.
