The HOA Board wants to grow its membership this year from the current 1,500 residents. See the ad in Smoke Signals to appreciate the many programs and services that are provided by the HOA. Increased membership will enable us to offer more benefits and special events. Also, the more representative our membership is of our community, the stronger our voice of advocacy.

Be sure to vote for four of the seven strong nominees to represent you on the HOA Board. In addition to the article in this paper, read more about them at http://www.bigcanoehoa.org/, and click on their photos. Or, go to Smoke Signals Online at http://www.bigcanoenews.com/.

The Clubhouse at Lake Sconti is scheduled to open in June, on time and on budget.  I urge everyone to participate in the activities planned around the grand opening of our clubhouse. Food and Beverage Director Michael Pantall and Amenities Director Jim Story are anxious to hear from us so that they can learn what our community wants and needs. With your input and participation, the Clubhouse can be all that we want it to be. No doubt, it will soon become the favorite place to meet and entertain.

The POA also needs feedback on the proposed Capital Reserve Fund. If you have questions or suggestions, I urge you to attend the informational meetings that will take place during the current 30-day period for community input, or speak directly to your POA directors.

The Primary Elections will be on July 15 so be sure to register to vote.  Voters will have the opportunity to meet Pickens and Dawson candidates at the Political Forum at the Chapel on Saturday, May 17, at 10:30 a.m. The HOA, POA, and Dawson County continue to work together to ensure that Station #6 remains the Amicalola Precinct polling place.
