Board needs your feedback on vote failure by Nov. 27

Go ahead and open the big white election envelope from the POA with the ballot for voting your choices for the two elected director positions. The ballot is the easy part, assuming you’ve already made a decision. The hard part is the four-page Capital Initiation Fee Survey. So, get started.
You need to complete the form and return it with your ballot to the auditors, Mauldin and Jenkins. Deadline for receiving ballots is December 3. You’re asked, however, to return the ballot along with the survey as soon as possible so that the survey information can be processed in time for the early December Town Hall meeting. Toward this end, the board has set a preferred deadline of November 27.
A stamped and addressed envelope is enclosed for your convenience.
The survey is being handled for the board by the Big Canoe based research firm of Riverside Associates headed by Bob Garstin.

Tuesday, December 2 set for election run-offs |

The Senate race has national implications
Early voting days for the run-off election have been extended and now will begin Tuesday, November 18, and will run through Wednesday, November 26.

Put this important date on your calendar: Tuesday, Dec. 2 for the runoff election of three undecided races with one having national implications in the U.S. Senate.
The Dec. 2 runoff election day times will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at regular precinct voting locations. Big Canoe’s Dawson voters will go to Fire Station No. 6 on Hubbard Road and Pickens voters will go to the fire station on Yellow Creek Rd.

Next time your errands take you off the reservation to Jasper, work in a lunch or dinnertime visit to the newest café on Main Street.
Having been fans of the Three Sisters Café for about a year, and The Crow's Nest before that, we were recently very surprised to see a name change there to 61 Main. The Three Sisters are no more, and Chef/Owner Jenna Schreiber has taken over the helm.

The North Georgia Chapter of the Atlanta Vietnam Veterans Business Association led the Veterans Day parade in Dawsonville. According to SSOL Imbedded Reporter David Howe, the mostly Big Canoe group made it around the square in good shape before retiring to a reception where warming and restorative beverages were served. A survey
about the recently failed amendment to initiate a capital reserve fund will be
mailed to property owners Nov. 6-7, along with the ballots for the Big Canoe POA
election. The POA Board voted Oct. 22 to include the survey in ballot envelopes,
rather than post it online and/or print it in Smoke
Signals.
"That way,
everybody just votes once and the Board never touches the survey," said Board
Director John Seferian. "They're sent directly to Riverside Associates, who
sends us the results."

GM Search Committee begins looking for candidates |

During the fourth quarter of 2007, the POA Board established the GM Search Committee, chaired by John Seferian, with members Terry Bacigalupo, Fred Omundson, George Kowalski, John Farris and Debbie Pickett, Staff and Recording Secretary. We were charged with the responsibility to identify for the Board’s selection and approval the best possible candidates for this critical community management position.
