Early deadline set for CIF survey and ED ballot Print E-mail
Board needs your feedback on vote failure by Nov. 27

Resident Herm Doll
Resident Herm Doll posts his ballot and survey well ahead of the early Nov. 27 deadline. The POA has asked property owners to file the return as early as possible to allow time for processing the survey information.

Go ahead and open the big white election envelope from the POA with the ballot for voting your choices for the two elected director positions. The ballot is the easy part, assuming you’ve already made a decision. The hard part is the four-page Capital Initiation Fee Survey. So, get started.

You need to complete the form and return it with your ballot to the auditors, Mauldin and Jenkins. Deadline for receiving ballots is December 3. You’re asked, however, to return the ballot along with the survey as soon as possible so that the survey information can be processed in time for the early December Town Hall meeting. Toward this end, the board has set a preferred deadline of November 27.

A stamped and addressed envelope is enclosed for your convenience.

The survey is being handled for the board by the Big Canoe based research firm of Riverside Associates headed by Bob Garstin.

The board is asking for feedback on the “reasons behind the outcome of the recent Capital Initiation Fee vote.” Property owners rejected the fee proposal by a huge 60% majority which surprised some observers. Finding out what went wrong is important to the board in deciding how to proceed from here.

The survey is needed “in order to pursue the appropriate next steps in the planning process,” according to the survey’s introduction. The survey is confidential, by the way, and individual names and responses will not be disclosed.

In addition to demographic information and reasons for your vote, the survey asks for property owner opinions on the appropriate amount of debt and level of assessment and who should share the cost of infrastructure, among other things.
