Fireside Restaurant meeting open to the community

By Charlene Terrell
Dr. Joseph Kitchens, executive director of the Funk Heritage Center at Reinhardt College, will speak to The Friendship Force of Big Canoe/North Georgia at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Fireside Restaurant in the Foothills Shopping Center. All are welcome.

Dr. Kitchens is a recent recipient of the Georgia Museum Professional of the Year by the Georgia Association of Museums and Galleries. Prior to entering the field of museum administration, Dr. Kitchens earned a Ph.D. degree in American History from the University of Georgia and was Professor of History at Georgia Southwestern State University.  He has published two books on Georgia history: Quail Plantations of South Georgia and North Florida and Generations: The Story of Albany. He is also the author of more than sixty magazine and newspaper articles on Georgia history and life.

The Funk Heritage Center is the "Official Georgia Southeastern Indian and Frontier Interpretive Center."  Dr. Kitchens is a much sought-after speaker and we are fortunate to be able to hear an interesting and informative presentation on Nov. 16.  Everyone is welcome and an optional dinner is available at the restaurant following the meeting.
