College singers perform "Messiah" Nov 10, 11 and 13

North Georgia College & State University invites community members to attend any of the following art and cultural events. All events are free unless otherwise noted. Additional details and other events may be available on NGCSU'S Online Public Events Guide at www.ngcsu.edu/eventsguide

"Hate" (France 1995)
Nov. 10, 7 p.m., Hoag Student Center Auditorium

This film portrays a day in the life of three ethnically diverse young men from the same decaying housing project in Paris. Seething with rage over the arrest and senseless beating of an Arab friend, they manage to keep each other in check until one of them finds a loaded gun. This film is not rated and is unsuitable for children. In French with English subtitles.

NGCSU Singers Presentation of Handel's "Messiah"
Nov. 10, 11 and 13, 8 p.m.
Dahlonega Baptist Church, 234 Hawkins Street, Dahlonega, Ga. 30533

The NGCSU Singers, under the direction of John Broman, presents the Christmas portion of Handel's "Messiah" as a major fundraiser for the choir's trip to the United Kingdom in March 2009. The choir and soloists will be accompanied by a chamber orchestra. Tickets: $10 adults, $5 students and children.

NGCSU Jazz Orchestra Concert
Nov. 14, 8 p.m.
Hoag Student Center Auditorium

NGCSU's Jazz Orchestra presents an evening concert filled with selections from the libraries of Count Basie and Charles Mingus. It also features several new compositions by Maria Schneider and the late Bob Florence. Tickets: $5 adults, $2 students; Free for NGCSU students, faculty and staff.

Classical Guitar Summit
Nov. 21-22, 8 a.m. - 10 p.m.
Hoag Student Center Auditorium

North Georgia College & State University hosts this year's Classical Guitar Summit on Nov. 21 and 22. The two-day event features recitals, seminars, and master classes from distinguished artists, including Luther Enloe, Duo ATL, John Sutherland and the Athens Guitar Trio. 

NGCSU Symphonic Band and Jazz Orchestra
Nov. 23, 3 p.m.
Hoag Student Center Auditorium

North Georgia College & State University's premier instrumental ensembles - the Symphonic Band and the Jazz Orchestra - present an afternoon of popular works for the wind band. American marches, film music and jazz classics also are included in the concert.Tickets: $5 adults, $2 students; Free for NGCSU students, faculty and staff.
