New 9-hold men’s group begins
From The
Golf Pro
| By Dave O'Connor
The new Men’s 9-Hole group called The Aces moved their starting time from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every Wednesday. This group is for any property owner who is interested in playing a social 9-Hole game of golf and meet new neighbors. If you are interested in playing, you can call Alan Beske (706-268- 3597). We had 28 players play recently even though it was windy. Every player throws $1in the hat and the winning foursome takes all. If you don’t have a handicap, Alan will assign you one.
Tournament credit winnings
I would like to remind all property owners that they must spend the tournament credits they have accumulated over the year before Dec. 31. The tournament book credits can be used for any merchandise in the golf shop. Sorry, No Carryovers, No Mulligans!

Lyn and I would like to thank all our tennis supporters who have for the last eleven years made our job a pleasure at the Tennis Center.
Special thanks to those people who came to our aid when we lost our home to fire, Lyn’s brain surgery and the club’s tornado damage. We will never forget your kindness and generosity that you gave us. You all showed what Big Canoe is all about. Thank you again.
We would also like to give special thanks to our staff who over the years have also done a tremendous job.

Tennis prevails in the Challenge Cup |
From The
Tennis Pro

We put together a strong team of tennis players (who play pretty good golf) to overwhelm Dave 'Connor's golf team in the 11th Annual Golf-Tennis Challenge on a beautiful late September fall day.
As usual, golf started with a 20-point advantage after the morning's golf rounds, but that wasn't enough lead to keep Tennis from overtaking Golf by 20 points at the end of the day. There were the usual grumbles about one's handicap, including my 7 in golf playing against Pro Dave O'Connor shooting a 31 for the day; otherwise, everyone had a super day in this great event.

Village Trail is short but beautiful |

When the POA Trails Committee opens a new trail in Big Canoe, the principal reason for doing so is to make a picturesque area accessible to hikers, trekkers, and walkers. This was certainly the case with the Village Trail, opened on Oct. 10, the day before Oktoberfest. This trail connects the Playfield and Petit Crest Villas to the Village (hence its name), by skirting the hill behind the chapel. It traverses through heavy woods and follows beside and above the bubbling creek that flows from Lake Petit to Lake Sconti.

Please observe the autumn ‘leaf rule' |
From The
Golf Pro

| By Dave O'Connor
The "leaf rule" is now in effect. So, if you hit your ball in the leaves and everyone in the group saw about where landed, however you cannot find your ball, you may drop another ball without penalty. This ball must be dropped as near to the spot where you believe it is hidden. You may proceed without taking a penalty shot. This "leaf rule" may be used only if your ball has hidden itself in the fairway or in the rough. However, if you hit the ball in the woods, you may not invoke the "leaf rule."
