Mountain MusicFest ’17 benefit concert set for June 24

Rain, rain go away – let the music play this Satuday

Big Canoe’s Acoustic Showcase veterans Shiraz Alikhan, Tom Kilpatrick, Bob Knysz, and Brad Morgan announced Mountain MusicFest ’17—featuring four “fan favorite” bands—will perform for the Big Canoe community and friends from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, June 24.

According to event organizer Bob Knysz, “We’ve been planning the event for several months. We used the Big Canoe Mountain Twilight concerts as a model. While the event is free, net donated proceeds will benefit the Big Canoe Wellness Collaborative. The event will be a bring your own food, drinks, chairs, etc.”

Shiraz Alikhan’s band, Off the Record, will perform an eclectic mix of pop, rock, country, and soul. Tom Kilpatrick’s Cumberland Trio Folk Band which is known for over 50 years of entertaining with original and traditional folk favorites will focus on folk music. Bob Knysz and the 8th of January, 2016 nominees for the Georgia Music Americana/Bluegrass Band of the Year, will entertain the crowd with bluegrass. Brad Morgan's Suburban Road, an Atlanta favorite, will feature Classic Rock n' Blues.

Donations will be accepted at the venue to benefit the Big Canoe Wellness Collaborative, an all-volunteer 501(c) (3) that provides non-emergency and non-medical wellness services to the residents of Big Canoe. Pre-event tax-deductible sponsorships at several levels are also available. Each level – Premier ($500), Gold ($300), Silver ($200), and Bronze ($100) – will receive benefits specific to each level.
